DeWitt Ezell, Jr. has been a member of the board of directors of LifePoint Hospitals since the Company's founding in 1999. Mr. Ezell previously served as the Chair of the Company's Compensation Committee and as the Chair of the Company's Nominating Committee.  On two separate occasions, Mr. Ezell also served as the Company's Interim Non-Executive Chairman of the Board.

Mr. Ezell served as state president of Tennessee for BellSouth Corporation, a communications services company, from January 1990 until his retirement on April 30, 1999.  Prior to that time, he served in various engineering, regulatory and public relations positions during his 37-year tenure                                                            with BellSouth Corporation.

Mr. Ezell serves as a director and previously served as chairman of the board of BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee, a non-profit health insurance company.
