September 15, 2011
Brentwood, Tenn. (September 14, 2011) – LifePoint Hospitals® (NASDAQ: LPNT), a leading hospital company focused on providing quality healthcare services close to home, announced today that eight of its hospitals have earned The Joint Commission’s (TJC) distinction of “Top Performer on Key Quality Measures” for attaining and sustaining excellence in accountability measure performance. Only 405 acute care and critical access hospitals from across the United States were recognized, based on an aggregation of accountability measure data reported to TJC – the leading accreditor of health care organizations in America – during the previous calendar year.
“LifePoint Hospitals is committed to providing quality healthcare to each of the communities we serve. We are diligent in our quality measurement and improvement efforts – always exploring new ways to positively impact both the patient experience and outcomes,” said LifePoint Hospitals Chairman and Chief Executive Officer William F. Carpenter III. “I’m so very proud of the eight LifePoint hospitals that made TJC’s prestigious list. I applaud their administrative teams, physicians and staff for their dedication to helping fulfill our mission: Making Communities Healthier.”
According to TJC, during 2010, the recognized hospitals achieved performance of 95 percent or above on a single, composite score that includes all the accountability measures for which it reports data to The Joint Commission, including measures that had fewer than 30 eligible cases or patients. In addition, the hospitals met a 95 percent performance target for every accountability measure for which it reports data to The Joint Commission, excluding any measures with fewer than 30 eligible cases or patients.
