Ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrates 11,000 square foot addition

Lake Havasu City, AZ – May 22, 2011 - Havasu Regional Medical Center recently celebrated the opening of its new Labor and Delivery Centre with a ribbon-cutting gala attended by over 200 community members, employees, physicians, board members and executives from LifePoint Hospitals.  Presentations were given by Cinda Ross, Chairman of HRMC’s Board of Trustees, Lake Havasu City Mayor Mark Nexsen, Bill Carpenter, President and CEO of Lifepoint Hospitals,  Sandra Podley, CEO of HRMC and Michael Aldridge, the first baby born in Lake Havasu City.  Michael and his mother, Mary Rock, were special guests of the celebration.

The new Labor and Delivery Centre is an 11,000 square foot addition to the east side of the main building, consisting of 8 private patient rooms with more space for families.  These specialized, larger rooms will be used for all phases of delivering babies: labor, delivery, recovery and post-partum (LDRP).  HRMC delivers babies for families from the Mohave, La Paz and San Bernardino counties.  Board Chairman Cinda Ross said, “To have a facility like this in our community is a giant leap from times past.  I am proud to have been part of making an important difference in our community hospital’s services”.

The completion of the new Labor and Delivery Centre is just the first step in Havasu Regional’s multimillion dollar renovation and expansion project.  Construction has already begun on expanding the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), a dedicated Pediatric Unit and a Wound Care Centre.  Mayor Mark Nexsen said “HRMC is leading the way in economic development with their continued expansion of services. They are constantly working to not just meet but exceed the needs of our community.”
