Foundation Provides Scholarships to Area Students

The Wythe-Bland Foundation was established in June 2005 with $50 million from the sale of Wythe County Community Hospital to LifePoint Hospitals, Inc. One of Wythe-Bland Foundation’s most notable initiatives is its Wytheville Community College (WCC) Scholarship Program, which provides full tuition and fees to WCC to any graduate of a Wythe or Bland county high school.

“Wythe-Bland Foundation’s scholarship program is significant to our community in so many ways,” says Timothy Bess, Foundation board member and Wythe County Community Hospital chief executive officer. “In addition to providing area students and their families with easy access to a college education, it’s helping the community develop a higher quality workforce.”
